Hi! I'm Annie. I'm bilingual, hold a Master's Degree and have been working in the mental health field for almost 20 years. I didn't learn about trauma from textbooks alone, I grew up around it. I spent the first half of my life in rural northern Ontario where trauma, addiction and tough childhoods were part of every day life. I grew up seeing people struggle and cope in the best ways they knew how and I learnt very early that life isn't always easy or fair. My early life experiences have shaped how I show up as a Psychotherapist: a steady presence and a lot of compassion for the messy and complicated parts of being human.
As a late diagnosed ADHD, I understand the intersection of neurodiversity and trauma not just clinically but personally and I bring that understanding into the room with compassion, respect and (sometimes blunt) honesty. I know what it's like to feel out of place, to grow up navigating a world that wasn't build for you and to carry the weight of experiences that left their mark. I work with the outsiders, the oddballs, the ones who've never truly felt like they fit in anywhere. If you've ever felt out of place, misunderstood, or like you were born on the wrong planet or era, welcome. You belong here.

Therapy with me is honest, grounded and sometimes a little blunt in the best way. We will talk about the hard stuff, slow things down, notice patterns and old wounds that keep showing up in your life and figure out a way forward that works for you. I'm serious about the work, and I also use humor when I feel it might be helpful because so
Therapy with me is honest, grounded and sometimes a little blunt in the best way. We will talk about the hard stuff, slow things down, notice patterns and old wounds that keep showing up in your life and figure out a way forward that works for you. I'm serious about the work, and I also use humor when I feel it might be helpful because sometimes a well timed laugh is exactly what's needed to get unstuck and lighten the load. Also, since emotional breakdowns, parenting struggles and relationship blow ups don't neatly happen between 9 and 5 on weekdays, I offer a flexible schedule whenever possible.

As a relational Therapist, I care far more about the human connection than about any specific modality. I use the usual alphabet soup of therapy modalities and it absolutely informs the work I do. As a relational Therapist, I care far more about the human connection than about any specific modality. I use the usual alphabet soup of therapy modalities and it absolutely informs the work I do. Techniques matter, but I firmly believe that meaningful and lasting change happens through connection. The theories inform my work, the relationship is what makes it meaningful. My work is grounded in somatic approaches which means that I won't just pay attention to your thoughts but also what's happening in your body. Psychotherapy sessions are available in person at Port North Bay and also virtually.

Therapy sometimes gets a bad rap for feeling clinical, cold, disconnected from real life. That's not how I show up. I don't sit behind notepads nor do I quietly nod and I certainly won't tell you to just breathe through it. Therapy sometimes gets a bad rap for feeling clinical, cold, disconnected from real life. That's not how I show up. I don't sit behind notepads nor do I quietly nod and I certainly won't tell you to just breathe through it. I enjoy working across the lifespan because the challenges we face don't exist in isolation. Kids are influenced by families, couples are shaped by their histories, and adults show up carrying the weight of their earlier life experiences. I have a pointed interest in working with couples because it's where I get to combine my relational focus with practical tools. My goal is to help people feel seen, understood and supported as they untangle patterns and find ways forward.
Sometimes trauma is obvious other times it can look like anxiety that never seems to shut off, a nervous system that's always on high alert or feeling like you're constantly expecting bad things to happen. My approach recognizes that trauma is what's still living in your mind and body. The way your nervous system is wired, the stories you carry about yourself, the coping strategies leaving you feeling stuck. I see your struggles through a lens of survival, not dysfunction and I hold space for the protective parts, the wounded parts, the strong parts that keep you going and also the parts that are carrying way too much. Your story, your body, and your nervous system... It all matters.
